Murugi is a Kenyan-American multidisciplinary visual artist, specializing in photography and filmmaking, based in Washington, DC. She has honed her creative eye at the intersection of documentary, street, and photojournalism, weaving in threads of history, fashion, and culture. Murugi’s work was acquired by the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture as a part of an exhibition celebrating the societal contributions made by Black women.
